Once upon a time, couples would not know what the sex was of the child until it was born.
Once upon a time, having a boy or a girl would be left to probability.
Once upon a time, couples would make love and anticipate to have a baby in nine months.
And absolutely everyone was happy.
It is a bit different today. Today everyone knows if it’s a boy or a girl. Today getting pregnant is a science. Today you can make sure to conceive a girl.
And everyone is still pleased.
The idea of family balancing provides justification to deciding upon the gender of your little one. Most would concur that any child is a blessing. However, there are families with all boys, or all girls, and understandably they would like the stability of having both.
If you want a girl, there are various things you can do. Many times it works, and At times not, but at least you tried.
First, let’s review some high school biology to better realize the basics of these tactics. and how you can use them to get pregnant with a girl.
The mother’s egg bears two chromosomes – X and X
The father’s sperm bears two chromosomes – X or Y
When the sperm fertilizes the egg, the gender of the child has been established. If a sperm with the X chromosome wins the race, it’s a female. If a sperm with the Y wins, it’s a male.
The two basic techniques are divided into hi-tech and low-tech. The hi-tech way of sex or gender choice is really expensive, all procedures are done in a clinic or hospital, they involve sperm sorting, and they have a greater likelyhood of a success rate.
The low tech way is free, you can become pregnant in the privacy of your own home, there are many recommendations you can quickly follow by yourself, many families swear it works, but the statistical proof of accomplishment is just not there.
Hi Tech procedures create conception is through artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization (IVF).
The X and Y sperm are separated, and then one is chosen to fertilize the egg.
- Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) with IVF
The egg and sperm are fertilized and 3 days after, one cell is checked to see if it is a girl or boy, and then implanted into the uterus.
Low Tech methods
- The Shettles Method
- O + 12
- Lydia Pinkhams Herbal Compound
- Preconception Gender diet
- Whelan Method
- Chinese Astrology
The most common low tech technique is the Shettles Method. Since the Y sperm (male) moves faster but dies earlier than the X sperm (female), it’s important to get the X sperm in early in ovulation to beat out the Y’s. The X’s will be waiting for the egg before it arrives.
By killing off the Y’s, the odds are better that the X’s will succeed. They don’t do well in heat, or in an environment that is highly acidic.
Here is what needs to be done, in accordance to Shettle.
monitor Ovulation
Use the Basal Body thermometer to chart your temperature. As soon as there is an elevation, you are ovulating.
Buy an OPK (Ovulation Predictor Kit) to get a precise prediction as to when you are ovulating. Twice a day is best, once around noon and again early in the evening. Doing this for several months will give you a good idea of your cycles.
Intercourse
Have sex 2 to 3 days before you ovulate so that the female sperm are waiting for the egg.
Use the missionary position. The sperm will be further away from the cervix, and the hope is that they will die out before getting to the egg.
Temperature
Male sperm don’t survive well in heat, so in order to kill them off, encourage the Dad to sit in hot tubs and saunas. Wearing tight underwear also helps.
Vaginal Environment
The Y’s can’t survive acidic conditions, and the vagina is basically acidic. The female orgasm creates an alkaline ph in the vagina, so it’s best not to reach climax if it’s a girl you are after.
Diet
Certain foods create an acidic environment. It’s best to eat tomatoes, grapefruits, pineapples, and oranges, or drink the juice of these fruits. boost your dairy food consumption, while Keeping away from canned foods, yeast products, chocolate, cocoa and salty foods.
The proof is in the pudding, as they say. With the exception of the hi- tech methods of gender selection where success rates are high, you can verify the results in three ways. One is amniocentesis, where a bit of amniotic fluid is withdrawn and then tested for many things, one of which is the sex of the fetus.
The second is the ultrasound, which clearly shows the genitals of the fetus. The third is birth.
